Oklahoma Sooners Vs. Kansas State Wildcats 9/22/12 Mitch’s Free College Football Pick Against the Spread

The Oklahoma Sooners and the Kansas State Wildcats face off on Saturday in Norman in a Big 12 college football match up.

The Oklahoma Sooners are off to a 2-0 start to the year but after a bye last week they are facing what is easily their toughest competition thus far in KSU. Landry Jones has completed 62.5 percent of his passes for four touchdowns and an interception. Damie Williams is averaging 12.9 yards per carry for the Sooners as he has five touchdowns while Dom Whaley has a 5.6 yards per carry average. Kenny Stills leads OU with 16 receptions and two touchdowns and Trey Metoyer has seven catches and a touchdown. Defensively Oklahoma is allowing 134 rushing yards per game and 111 passing yards with one interception and seven sacks. Tom Wort and Javon Harris each have 12 tackles to lead the Sooner D and Tony Jefferson has 11 tackles. Oklahoma struggled in their opener against UTEP but expect them to be prepared for Kansas State in this one.

The Kansas State Wildcats are off to a perfect 3-0 start to the season and after being a big surprise last season they aren’t going to surprise too many teams this season. QB Collin Klein is once again leading the way completing 72.9 percent of his passes for five touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing for 210 yards and four touchdowns. John Hubert is averaging 6.9 yards per carry and he has three touchdowns and Angelo Pease has 57 rushing yards. Tramaine Thompson has 13 catches and three touchdowns and Chris Harper has nine catches and a touchdown. Defensively KSU has allowed 93.3 yards on the ground and 251 yards passing with one interception and eight sacks. Arthur Brown has 28 tackles and a sack, Jarard Milo has 22 tackles, and Allen Chapman has 17 tackles. Kansas State never looks too good doing what they do but they seem to always be effective moving the ball and playing solid defense.

Oklahoma is 10-4 against the spread in their last 14 home games, 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games following a bye week, and 2-5 against the spread in their last seven Big 12 games. Kansas State is 5-1 against the spread in their last six road games, 7-2 against the spread in their last nine road games, and 11-4 against the spread in their last 15 games overall. The road team is 8-2-1 against the spread in the last 11 meetings of these two.

I expect to see some reasonable defense but this one belongs to the offenses and I would say it’s a high scoring game that goes over the total. My stronger play is on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as making the pick available for individual purchase.
