Team USA heads into the 2012 Olympics basketball quarterfinals on August 8 as the only undefeated team remaining. One of the key reasons is because of the play of Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant.
Durant led the team in scoring in two of Team USAâs victories, including a nice group play finish against Argentina on August 6. He scored 17 points in the third quarter, when Team USA put away their opponents, and finished the game with 28 points.
Durant said the best advice he got was from Kobe Bryant when the Los Angeles Lakersâ superstar told him to "do what I do. Coming from one of the greatest players to ever play, I'll take that."
Team USA starts off the quarterfinals with a game with Australia (3-2), a team that upset previously unbeaten Russia in the final game from the Group B competition.
The Thunder also have a big star playing for Spain in Serge Ibaka. While Spain faltered, losing two straight to end their Group B play with a 3-2 record, they look to rebound in the quarterfinals. Their first opponent is France, a team that they beat in the EuroBasket Tournament.
