OSU Cowboy quarterback hurt on first series, severity uncertain - Examiner.com

Freshman quarterback Wes Lunt appeared on his way to another great day for Oklahoma State on Sept. 15, 2012.

Lunt had completed three of his first four passes on the team's first drive against Louisiana, a team the Cowboys should and did defeat handily. On the sixth play of the game Lunt was hurried by the defense and took a hit on his knee.

Reports immediately after the game said he had a dislocated knee cap and could miss two to three weeks.

The Cowboys have an open date next week, which means Lunt could miss only one game. The next game is Texas which will be much tougher competition than what the Cowboys have seen, an it is the beginning of Big 12 play.

The silver lining is that replacement J.W. Walsh played spectacularly. He engineered scores on the team's first eight drives as OSU rolled out to a 44-0 halftime lead. Walsh completed 20-of-29 passes for 341 yards, four touchdowns and no picks. On the ground, he added 73 yards and a touchdown on six carries.

Against Louisiana Walsh was more than equal to the task.

Whoever starts against Texas will have stiffer competition.
