The Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat last met in the 2012 NBA Finals, won by the Heat in five games. This makes their 2012-13 regular season appearances major events and the first meeting between the Thunder and Heat will take place on Christmas Day, according to a South Florida Sun Sentinel report on July 24.
The game will be a road game with the Heat coming to Oklahoma City for a rematch with the Thunder on February 14, a Valentineâs Day game. It makes sense that the two games between the best teams in the NBA both takes place on holidays.
The complete NBA schedule is not set to be released for another two weeks.
This is the third year in a row that the Thunder have played in a Christmas Day game, always marking the best teams in the NBA. The past two seasons, those games have taken place in Oklahoma City. The Thunder beat Denver in 2010 and Orlando in 2011.
Meanwhile, three Oklahoma City Thunder players join forces with two Miami Heat stars in the 2012 Summer Olympics for Team USA. The first game for Team USA tips off on Sunday, July 29, against France at 8:30 a.m. C.T.
