Mike Krzyzewski finalized his Team USA roster for the Summer Olympics on July 7 and the Oklahoma City Thunder count three players as part of the team. The total number of players for the Thunder playing in the Summer Olympics is four, with Serge Ibaka playing for Spain.
Ibaka, who played on the EuroBasket Championship team for Spain, said he believes that Spain matches up well with the U.S.
"They are just like us, they also have players with a lot of talent," Ibaka said Saturday in his first full day of training with the Spanish team. "They are a different team to 2008, but their players are still very good."
The Spanish team has a good number of NBA players, including Ibaka, Paul Gasol, Marc Gasol and Rudy Fernandez. The two teams play on July 24 and there is a good chance they meet again in the Gold Medal game.
However, the U.S. team finalized their roster by adding Blake Griffin, Andre Iguodala and James Harden to the lineup. They join LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Tyson Chandler and Kevin Love.
"We feel like we're definitely a great team. We have all the pieces that we need," Anthony said. "We've got to put it together, but we feel like we're the best team out there."
The three Thunder players mark the most for any team in the NBA.
"Great characters, workaholics, just humble guys, humble guys and blessed to be in this position," Harden said of himself, Durant and Westbrook. â(Guys) who work hard and just set ourselves up for greatness and to achieve, and just to be on the same team with these guys means a lot."
