NBA Standings 2012: Denver Nuggets Battle Oklahoma City Thunder For Northwest ... - SB Nation

The Denver Nuggets have picked up a game in the Northwest division standings and now trail the Oklahoma City Thunder by just 1.5 games. One week ago, the Nuggets were behind the Thunder by 2.5 games, but a four-game road winning streak over the ensuing seven days has brought the Nuggets to a 12-5 record.

The Nuggets beat the Milwaukee Bucks, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Washington Wizards and, on Saturday night, the New York Knicks. The latter was a thrilling 119-114 double overtime victory that saw Danilo Gallinari score 37 points and effectively draw fouls all night long.

The Thunder, on the other hand, lost to the Washington Wizards, 105-102, during the middle of the week. The Wizards are one of the worst teams in the league and, by record, are the worst with just two victories. It's a stinging loss for the Thunder, but no more significant than the other two losses the team has had this season.

And it's only January, just one month into the season. We still haven't seen the full effects of this crunched schedule.
