Freshman Lunt perfect in Oklahoma State debut - Examiner.com

Freshamn Wes Lunt was spectacular in his debut as an Oklahoma State Cowboy Saturday. They were playing lowly Savannah State, which is a division lower and has not won many games at that level, but still Lunt was impressive.

The Cowboys were ahead 35-0 before the first quarter ended, on their way to a 84-0 victory.

Lunt completed all 11 of his paces and directed the team to quick scores. He didn't look like a freshman, but at the same time, he has better competition in practice.

Coach Mike Gundy was happy with the freshman's play, but cautioned that there are much harder games coming up immediately, which will be a much harder test.

"Well I listen to what's being said on the head sets, and I think that, for the most part, he played pretty well and (did) what they asked him to do. (He) got the ball where it was supposed to be, and distributed it. I think it's important that we all realize it's going to change in the next week. It's hard to really say where we are as a football team. A month from now, we'll have a much better feel for who we are and where we are at."

Here is what others said about Lunt after the game.

WR Isaiah Anderson

“It's good to know that he can get the ball out there. We tried to help him as much as we could out there on the edge. I'm looking forward to him progressing throughout the season. Before the game, he wasn't nervous at all. I just went up to him and told him to keep doing what he's been doing in practice. He didn't seem to get rattled at all. We're expecting big things from him for the rest of the year.

RB Joseph Randle

“Sometimes, I forget he's a freshman. He came out and did everything the coaches asked him to do. He came out with a lot of poise, and I'm glad for him.”
