Danny Green picks Oklahoma City Thunder over Los Angeles Lakers to take the crown next season â" NBA News
The offseason acquisitions of the Los Angeles Lakers have made them one of the most talked about teams in the NBA at the moment.
The Lakers added point guard Steve Nash and centre Dwight Howard to the team in blockbuster trades, which catapulted them to the top of the Western Conference and in firm contention for the NBA title next season.
However, there are still many people who believe that the Lakers are a dominant team on paper, but will not have the same team work and chemistry as other teams in their first season together. That is something the Oklahoma City Thunder has, being one of the most organic and home grown teams in the NBA at the moment.
That is why there are many who are still siding with the Thunder to take the Western Conference next season, even after the superstar additions of the Lakers. And San Antonio Spurs Danny Green is one of those people.
Green is also siding with the Thunder over the Lakers in the Western Conference, while also adding that the Spurs will be a better team next season and definitely a contender.
âGreen believes that this year the San Antonio Spurs will be better than in 2011 and will be contenders for the championship, but says Oklahoma is a big favourite over Los Angeles Lakers. Green noted that the Lakers have made a great team in the offseason, but still have to see them on the court.â
The Lakers are being met with scepticism from many circles, despite the fact that there could not be a better team on paper than the Lakers. However, it is this very fact that many are saying could be the biggest impediment to their success. Four superstars with huge egos who are used to running the show will have to play in one team and put their egos aside to focus on the greater prize. It is easier said than done.
The Spurs were a true contender last season but their dream run was abruptly brought to an end by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. With the team still intact, the Spurs could very well go for one more run at the title, although their age and the lack of a big man will cause trouble for them against the Thunder and the Lakers.
Green also said that it would be a dream come true for him to represent the U.S national team at the 2016 Olympics, scheduled to take place in Rio de Janeiro.
