Dwight Buycks excels as Oklahoma City Thunder downs Brooklyn Nets - Examiner.com

The Oklahoma City Thunder improved to 2-2 in Summer League play on July 12 following a come-from-behind effort against the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets took a 13-point league but the young Thunder players worked at chipping it away to win the game, 87-86.

“I love seeing those guys play because you know those guys are going to come in and play as hard as they possibly can,” Thunder Summer League Coach Mark Bryant said. “From one through 12, every guy came in and contributed and that’s the only thing we can ask for them to do. The minutes they’re on the floor, they go as hard as they possibly can. They did it, and they deserved that today.”

What is even more impressive is that the Thunder did it without their most experienced players. Cole Aldrich, Lazar Hayward, Reggie Jackson and Perry Jones III all sat out the game, the latter because of an injury.

The star of the game for the Thunder was point guard Dwight Buycks. He finished the game with 22 points, eight in the fourth quarter, as well as three assists in that final period. Behind his leadership, Oklahoma City outscored Brooklyn, 17-8, in the final four minutes of the game.

“Buycks is a tough little guard, he really knows how to play the game,” Bryant said. “He helped us out tremendously throughout this week and he’s getting better and better each game. The kid can score and he can pass the ball, he can do quite a few things.”
