2012 NBA Free Agency: Oklahoma City Thunder Sign Hollis Thompson To ... - SB Nation

The Oklahoma City Thunder signed undrafted free agent Hollis Thompson to a three-year contract on Wednesday.

Jul 11, 2012 - The Oklahoma City Thunder and undrafted free agent Hollis Thompson agreed to a three-year contract on Wednesday, according to multiple sources, including Slam Online.

As with most pro contracts, there's some funny details and fine print.

Former Georgetown swingman Hollis Thompson has agreed to a three-year contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The deal is partially guaranteed with team option for the second and third years. Thompson will not play in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas while still rehabbing a groin injury that was the primary reason he went undrafted last month's Draft.

So, it's essentially a one-year deal for Thompson if the Thunder do not like what they see out of the former Georgetown Hoya.

The Thunder will hope that he can boost an otherwise mediocre three-point shooting team. As Slam Online notes, Thompson was one of the best pure shooters in the NCAA last year, and you can always bet on pure shooters having a job in the NBA.

We'll see in the coming months what exactly Thompson has to offer, but the signing is intriguing and could pay big dividends for the Thunder.
