Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh apparently wasn’t too impressed with the highly respected Oklahoma City Thunder crowd in Miami’s Game 1 loss Tuesday, reports CBS Sports‘ Ben Golliver.
“Everybody keeps talking about how loud it is,†Bosh said. “It’s regular. We’ve been in a lot of other arenas and it’s about the same. Once it gets really loud, it’s all about the same.â€
The sellout crowd at Chesapeake Energy Arena wore matching blue “One Thunder†shirts. The Tulsa World‘s Mark Cooper wrote that “a filled-to-capacity arena was rambunctious and ready.â€
The Thunder crowd’s reputation has built over the past few seasons. Early this year, NBA.com‘s Chris Tomasson wrote about Oklahoma City’s home-court advantage.
Tomasson’s story included an anecdote from Denver Nuggets coach George Karl. After Game 1 of Denver’s series in Oklahoma City, Karl’s 6-year-old daughter’s ears hurt.
“She was crying because the noise was too loud,†Karl told Tomasson. “That’s a bad thing for a 6-year-old girl, but it’s an awful good thing for an NBA basketball team to have that emotion and that enthusiasm in the building.â€
For Game 2, Karl’s daughter brought earplugs.
