Metal fabricator creating sculpture for Oklahoma City Thunder - Examiner.com

Randy Vaughn, metal fabricator from Owasso and Oklahoma City Thunder, is using his job skills to create a work of art that will honor the 1012 NBA Western Conference Champions. He created another sculpture as a tribute to Wayman Tisdale.

KWTV Channel 9 News in Oklahoma City is also reporting today that the metal sculpture weighs 450 pounds. It features a basketball to honor the players. There is also a film reel that represents those who work behind the scene and an old camera to celebrate Oklahoma’s past.

“That sounds like an interesting piece of artwork,” Kelly Snow, an Oklahoma City Thunder fan from Oklahoma City, said. “People are coming up with so many ways to pay tribute to the [Oklahoma City] Thunder. We have the video guys from Woodward and now this man.”

“The video guys” Kelly Snow mentioned have just released their third and final parody honoring the Oklahoma City Thunder. “Call Him K.D.” was posted on YouTube yesterday and already has over 14,000 views. Their other video, “Beard Like Hardin,” was an internet sensation that went viral.

Randy Vaughn plans to donate his sculpture to the Oklahoma City Thunder organization. He hopes it will be displayed by the Thunder.
