Two women were arrested early Sunday morning for allowing four young children to ride with an intoxicated driver.
18-year-old Denise Lee Whitetree reportedly entered I-44 from 41st Street South just before 2:00 a.m. Sunday. An Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) trooper observed her driving at a high rate of speed, making an unsafe lane change while merging onto the Interstate, and tailgating another vehicle.
The OHP trooper pulled her over and deemed Denise to be highly intoxicated.
Denise's sister, 22-year-old Desiree E. Whitetree, was found passed out in the back seat. The trooper reportedly shook Desiree to wake her up and deemed her also to be intoxicated, double the legal limit.
Four young children were also in the back seatâ"a 2-month-old girl, a 3-month-old boy, a 2-year-old boy, and a 5-year-old girl.
The OHP trooper spotted multiple cans of beer in the vehicle, including an open beer can under the driver's seat.
Desiree admitted to being the mother of three of the four children.
Both Denise and Desiree were arrested and booked just after 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
The sisters are being charged with four felony counts each of child endangerment.
Denise is also being charged with misdemeanor counts of aggravated DUI, driving without a license, following too closely, and transporting an open container.
Desiree is also being charged with one misdemeanor count of public intoxication.
Denise's bond was set at $101,900, and Desiree's was set at $100,100.
Their court date is set for July 30th.
