OKC Thunder Offseason: Royal Ivey Signs With Philadelphia 76ers - SB Nation Kansas City

It's a minor signing and one that was expected, but it was finally made official today that Royal Ivey will not be returning to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Instead Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doug Collins offered up the news that Ivey had signed with the team that traded him in remarks to the media on Tuesday.

Ivey was buried on the bench behind a loaded backcourt, and even with the potential exit of Derek Fisher via free agency as well, the Thunder seemed ready to move on from Ivey. They signed undrafted rookie free agent Hollis Thompson from Georgetown as a long-range weapon off of the bench and the team is likely looking to save money in doing so.

Collins seemed excited about the Sixers' offseason plan as they prep for the future, and particularly with Ivey, Collins mentioned his habits in practice that will help the entire team.

"The beauty of every day in practice is that we think we've got opening day of training camp," he said. "We have Jrue [Holiday] going against Royal Ivey every day. We think Royal is going to really make Jrue work every single day."

Ivey averaged 2.1 points per game in 34 apperances for the Thunder.
