Tulsa Drillers Win Pitchers Duel Against Arkansas - News On 6

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas -

Parker Frazier pitched seven scoreless innings as the Tulsa Drillers won a pitchers duel over the Arkansas Travelers Friday night, 2-1.

The Drillers pushed across two runs in the fifth inning, one on a sacrifice fly by Josh Rutledge, and the other on a triple by Angelys Nina, and that was more than enough for Frazier.

Matt Oye took the loss for the Travelers, dropping to 1-4 for the season.

Each team only collected four hits during the game, as the pitchers had control from start to finish in a game that last just two hours and 40 minutes.

The Travelers didn't threaten until the bottom of the eighth inning. Darwin Perez singled and Jean Segura walked to put the tying run on first. A sacrifice bunt moved the runners to second and third with just one out. After Ryan Mount grounded out, a wild pitch by Josh Sullivan brought in Perez.

However, Sullivan got out of the inning by striking out Roberto Lopez, stranding the tying run 90 feet away.

Coty Woods pitched a perfect ninth for his 11th save for the Drillers, striking out the last two Traveler batters of the game.

With the win, the Drillers improved to 38-28 this season, and has a four game lead over NW Arkansas in the Texas League North division. Arkansas dropped to 25-41.

The two teams are back at it again tomorrow for the third game of a four game set. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. CST.
