Oklahoma Sooners suspended players lose scholarships - Examiner.com

Anyone hoping for the best from the suspended Oklahoma Sooners’ football players might want to think again. Not only did Bob Stoops suspend four players indefinitely but ESPN reported on June 6 that he has stripped three of them of their scholarships and is making the fourth work to earn his back.

"(They) have been removed from scholarship and we aren't counting on any of them,” Stoops said. "We'll keep moving forward. This program doesn't bank on any one individual player; we've recruited a lot of really good players so we'll keep moving on."

Jaz Reynolds, Trey Franks and Quentin Hayes all lost their scholarships. Kameel Jackson kept his summer scholarship but will have to earn one for fall and the 2012 football season. Jackson claimed that he his suspension was due to school attendance policies.

Anyone who thinks that Stoops is being tougher than usual will find Stoops shaking off that notion.

"I've always clamped down, I believe,” Stoops said. “I think it's fair to say over 13, 14 years, our track record has been pretty similar. We stick to our team policies and university policies and we don't waver. You either abide by them or you don't."

It wasn’t that long ago that Stoops kicked his starting quarterback off the team for NCAA violations.

Now, Oklahoma has to find players who can step in at receiver since only Kenny Stills remains from last year’s roster.
