Oklahoma City Thunder season ticket holder ready to make the trip ... - kjrh.com

TULSA - Thunder fans are buzzing ahead of Thursday's Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

Of the many season ticket holders, Gary Black is a dedicated fan who was in Oklahoma City for Game 1 Tuesday.

Black said the crowd was focused on the game and the noise was deafening.

He said he actually planned on selling his playoff tickets to make up for the cost of the rest of the season, but then the post season arrived.

"Well, I can't give them up," said Black.  "I'm too much of a fan.  I think it's something where I never thought we'd make it this far this quick.  So it was an easy justification to convince myself.  Convince my family that we buy them.  But it's a dream for your home team to make it this far."

Black has more of a connection to the team than just being a season ticket holder.  His business, Black Optical, has provided some of the players the accessories that have become so well-known during post-game interviews.

Russell Westbrook has been known to sport a funky pair of glasses, which he sometimes buys from Black Optical.

"I think of any player in the NBA, Westbrook by far has his own personal style," said Black.  "I think that's something Black Optical really appreciates.  We've always kind of preached it's not following what the trends are, not following what other people are wearing.  You just buy things you love."

Westbrook's teammates have their own opinion of his and fellow spectacle-sporter Kevin Durant's style.

"It's their swag," said James Harden.  "It's how they dress.  It's their swag.  Glasses and funny-looking shirts.  Different shoes.  It's funky and it's fresh."

So what does Westbrook have to say about his fashion sense?

"I've been wearing glasses since I've been in the league," he said.  "I think everyone else just started wearing them now.  I ain't saying nothing, but I'm just saying..."

Black owns two stores, one in Brookside and one in Oklahoma City.
