Oklahoma Sooners Football: Latest News, Injuries and Team Updates - Bleacher Report

The Oklahoma Sooners return with the majority of their team from last season, including quarterback Landry Jones as they try to handle some unfinished business. They began the journey back in spring practice, but now all of that hoopla is over with.

The team will have these next few months off before the fall begins, and the regular season takes place September 1 against UTEP.

Here is all of the latest Oklahoma Sooners news and updates as we get closer to the 2012 season.

Wide receiver Kameel Jackson is no longer a Sooner and will soon head to the SEC and become a Texas A&M Aggie.

"Embracing my last week as a Sooner; as I've chose to transfer and further my education and football career at Texas A&M," he tweeted over the weekend.

Jackson saw playing time last year as a true-freshman last season and really stepped up towards the end of the year when Ryan Broyles suffered a season-ending injury. He finished the year with 12 receptions for 125 receiving yards.

The Sooners are off to a solid start with the 2013 recruiting class and landed another prospect over the weekend in Dalton Rodriguez. He's a 3-star player on most recruiting sites and has the ability to play both sides of the ball.

"I was looking for the school that was the right fit for me and what I'm trying to do," Rodriguez told ESPN.com. "The coaching staff is incredible. I loved my visit [to Oklahoma], and I had a great feeling."

Rodriguez is a big boy at 6'6", 255 pounds and has become the sixth 2013 commitment for Oklahoma. He currently plays defensive end in high school, but the Sooners see him more as an offensive linemen, specifically at the tackle position.

Rodriguez also had offers from Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Arizona, among others.

Oklahoma fell short of their national championship goals last season, but according to ESPN, they'll have a great chance to fulfill them this year.

In a new preseason poll that was released last week by ESPN, the Sooners are ranked No. 5. The only teams that are ranked higher than Oklahoma is USC, LSU, Alabama and Oregon.

Another season of high expectations is about to begin for Oklahoma.
