Oklahoma announced that cornerback Cortez Johnson has transferred from Arizona.
Johnson, who played in eight games and started two last season as a freshman, will have to sit out a season because of NCAA transfer rules. He recorded 16 tackles, including a career-best seven in a start against Washington.
âCortez is a player that is familiar with the system run by Mike Stoops and Tim Kish from their time together at Arizona,â Sooners coach Bob Stoops said in a statement. âHeâs got good size for a corner and we feel that heâs the type of player that can provide strength in our defensive scheme.â
The 6-2, 196-pound Johnson is from New Orleans.
