Oklahoma City Thunder Sign Former Orlando Magic Prospects DeAndre Liggins ... - Orlando Pinstriped Post

The Oklahoma City Thunder announced Wednesday that they've signed DeAndre Liggins for training camp, bringing their roster to 18 players. Liggins was the Orlando Magic's second-round draft choice in 2011, as Orlando made the Kentucky product the 53rd overall selection. He made just 17 appearances in his rookie season, averaging 1.9 points per game in 6.8 minutes.

Liggins isn't the only former Magic player and Wildcat on the Thunder's camp roster: OKC previously signed Daniel Orton, Orlando's first-round draft choice from 2010.

Orton, a 22-year-old center, missed the entire 2010/11 season with a knee injury. As a rookie, he played 187 minutes across 16 games, including two starts.

That Liggins and Orton have moved on from the Magic comes as no surprise. Orlando has 17 players under fully guaranteed contracts for the 2012/13 season, so it will have to waive at least two players prior to the start of the regular season. Its depth on the wing and at center made retaining the second-year players a low priority.
