OU football: Oklahoma Sooners and Fox Sports announce partnership - Examiner.com

The Oklahoma Sooners and Fox Sports announced a partnership on Sept. 12 that places over 1,000 hours a year of Oklahoma Sooners’ athletic programming on Fox Sports network of channels.

Unlike the Texas Longhorns, which began their own network, the Sooners will partner with Fox Sports and not be required to fill programming needs for 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“We thought the opportunity for wider distribution and fresh programming was a better approach for us,” an OU source told NewsOK. “If you have a 24/7 channel, you’re talking about creating roughly 8,800 hours of programming a year. That’s a great deal of programming. We feel good about the programming we have available to us.”

The Longhorn Network had some serious growing pains, including a legal dispute over showing high school football games on the network.

The OU programs will appear on Fox Sports, Fox Sports Southwest and Fox Sports Plus. Examples of some of the events available include women’s volleyball games, women’s soccer games, Bob Stoops’ weekly press conference and more.

The full television schedule can be found at soonersports.com.
