Flaming Lips Rewrite "Race for the Prize" for NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder

This is what team spirit sounds likeâ€"well, maybe on a few illegal substances. To support their own local team, Oklahoma City’s own Flaming Lips took to re-writing “Race for the Prize” from 1999’s The Soft Bulletin for the NBA team Oklahoma City Thunder.

The new version features an echo-y snare (that sort of gives it that full, “We Will Rock You” effect) and new lyrics that were gathered at the fans’ request, although it’s pretty hard to decipher many of them. The band posted the song with clips of the team playing, along with slow-mo clips of the team’s starting lineup reel.

Oklahoma City Thunder are down one game in the Western Conference Finals with the San Antonio Spurs, and they will need a big hand if they want to winâ€"The Spurs just tied an NBA record with the 2001 Los Angeles Lakers for most consecutive wins with 19.
