Jan 10, 2012 - Oklahoma Sooners LB Travis Lewis has been NFL-ready for some time now and he's showing up in a lot of 2012 NFL Draft mock drafts.
Many have expected Lewis to enter the NFL Draft after a sensational first two seasons at Oklahoma. Instead, he's opted to play all four years for the Sooners. Leading up to his senior season, Lewis has 360 tackles, 47.5 tackles for loss, 6 sacks and 8 interceptions.
Lewis is a rangy linebacker and the leader of Oklahoma's defense. He may not have the best pass rush ability, but Lewis shows enough athleticism and agility to get better in that area. Covering the run, Lewis is NFL ready.
The downsides to Lewis include his fiery play, which sometimes gets him in trouble because he'll over-pursue. He's also not the biggest or strongest linebacker, which will limit him some taking on blocks and shedding and ultimately, he is a work in progress when asked to drop back in zone situations, better suited to run with receivers in man.
